1. Read the title to get an idea of the topic.

2. Read the base text carefully to make sure you understand what it is about and to get a sense of the coherence of the passage.

3. Read before and after each gap and predict what information is missing from each gap.

4. Underline any textual clues (nouns, pronouns, linking words, etc.) which will help you to identify the missing paragraph.

5. Read the seven paragraphs and look at the textual clues that will connect them to the gaps. Look for topic words, synonyms and reference words.

6. If you are not sure which paragraph to choose for one gap, go on to the next gap and return to it later.
