Je gebruikt much bij uncount nouns: zelfstandige naamwoorden die je niet in het meervoud kan zetten en die je dus niet kan tellen. 
For example: water, money, salt, bread, work, help, news, information, milk.

How much money have you got?
The recipe doesn’t need much milk.
The homework today isn't much work.
They don't need much help to understand the grammar.

Wanneer gebruik je many?
Je gebruikt many bij count nouns: zelfstandige naamwoorden die je kan tellen. 
 Ze hebben een enkelvoudsvorm en een vorm in het meervoud.
Dat wil zeggen dat je achter het woord een -s kan plakken om de meervoudvorm te maken.
 For example: apple, car, dollar, loaf, stamps, chair, book, job.

There are many apples on the table. 
Rich people usually own many cars. 
The bakery bakes many loaves of bread every morning.
