Bones and cartilage consists of different substances. The most important are collagen and calcium phosphate. 

Collagen: makes a bone/ cartilage flexible

Calcium phosphate: makes a bone strong and hard

Give strength, let us move and stand upright

Contain a lot of calcium phosphate and a little bit of collagen

Firm, but very flexible.

Contains a lot of collagen and does not contain calcium phosphate

Protects bones from damage and makes sure movement is possible.
