Possessive pronouns
Bezittelijke voornaamwoorden = possessive pronouns
Je gebruikt ze om aan te geven van wie iets is. 
Het woord zegt het al: bezit
Voorbeeld:
She is my best friend = Ze is mijn beste vriendin
That bike is mine = Die fiets is van mij
She is a friend of mine = Ze is een vriendin van mij

If you see/hear: a/an, this, that, these, those before the noun (zelfst. naamwoord) you use
of mine, of yours, of his, of hers, of ours, of theirs
Example:
An uncle of mine had an accident last week.
That friend of yours passed her exam this year.  
Those children of theirs are very annoying. 
This dog of his bit a young child at the playground.

After: my, your, his, her, its, your, our, their you always get a noun (zelfst.nw)
example: That is my cat. 
After: mine, yours, his, hers, yours, ours, theirs there is  never a noun.
example: Those dogs of theirs.
That bike is hers.
