What you will learn in
this lesson
By the end of this lesson you can answer the question:

Why are the ancient Greeks important for the identity of modern Europe?
And you can support this answer with at least 5 examples.

Slide 4 - Slide

Everybody has an identity. It's what makes you who you are
and what makes you different from someone else

Slide 5 - Slide

Everybody has more than one identity.
In the picture, the woman is a mother, friend and colleague

Slide 6 - Slide

So, we are individuals, with our own IDENTITY,                  but we also belong to (more than one) GROUP.

Slide 7 - Slide

Your identity is everything that makes you who you are and everything that makes you different from someone else.
For instance: name, age, fashion, length, religion, nationality, hobbies, ideas, values, education, skin colour, etc.
We also belong to more than one group: family, class, city, religion, sports club, country,  etc. Every group has its own identity as well. We feel a connection to other people in our group.
We are also Europeans
And the ancient Greeks have played an important part in that identity. Many things that the Greeks have invented are still part of our lives today, even if we do not realise this. The next slides show you some examples...
