Conditionals: what are they?

Zero conditional

Use: for things that are always true.

Rule: 

Example:

> If you freeze water, it becomes ice.

> If you heat water to 100°C, it boils.

If + present simple

present simple

First conditional

Use: for possible situations in the future.

Rule: 

Examples: 

> If you don't study for the test, you will fail.  

> If that new video games costs little money, I will buy it.

If + present simple

will + verb (hele ww)

Second conditional

Use: for imaginary situations. (It's unlikely it will happen)

Rule: 

Examples: 

> If I won the lottery, I would buy a Ferrari.

> If he had more money, he would travel to Asia.

If + past simple

would + verb (hele ww)
