Understanding Thousands

A thousand is a group of 1,000. It's the fourth place value column from the right.

Adding Thousands

To add thousands, align the numbers by place value and add each column starting from the right.

Subtracting Thousands

Align numbers by place value. Subtract each column starting from the right.

Multiplying Thousands

Multiply the non-zero digits, then add the zeros. Example: 3 × 2,000 = 6,000.

Dividing Thousands

Divide as usual, ignoring zeros initially. Example: 6,000 ÷ 3 = 2,000.
