Pitfalls

In the exam there are 3 major pitfalls (valkuilen).

After this series of lessons you will know how to avoid "falling into" these pitfalls.

Pitfalls Reading/Listening Exam

• Valkuil 1: het is misschien wel zo, maar jouw mening wordt niet gevraagd. 
  
• Valkuil 2: alle antwoorden komen terug in de tekst of het fragment, maar de vraag gaat over een detail. Controleer de hele zin / alinea in de tekst of het fragment.
• Valkuil 3: je focust op het zoeken van woorden uit de antwoorden in plaats van de betekenis. Het antwoord bevat vaak een synoniem of omschrijving van informatie in de tekst.

Een synoniem heeft 'ongeveer' dezelfde betekenis. Soms is er een duidelijk verschil 'warm-hot', vaak is het een gevoelsmatig verschil 'beautiful-gorgeous'.

Je kunt en hoeft natuurlijk niet al die synoniemen uit je hoofd leren. Kijk eens of je er al een aantal kent.

Het gaat er vooral om dat je je bewust bent van het gebruik van synoniemen.

Leesstrategie in 3 stappen

1. Globaal = Je leest de informatiepagina voorafgaand aan de vragen en begrijpt waar de tekst over gaat.
2. Intensief = Je leest de vraag nauwkeurig. Je probeert zoveel mogelijk informatie die je leest te onthouden. Gebruik je digitale arceerstift.
3. Zoekend = Je weet wat je zoekt en kijkt of je in de tekst of het fragment het antwoord kunt vinden. Lees die zin / alinea helemaal. Daarna kijk je of je het antwoord ziet staan bij één van de gegeven antwoorden.
