What do you already know about creating and planning makeover images?

Learning Objective

At the end of the lesson you will know how to create an inspiring mood board, select an image, and develop a detailed plan for a makeover event.

As part of the assessment you need to do Task A and Task B

Task A –

Produce a mood board

You are required to produce a mood board that explores images that cover one of the following:

• Hairdressing skills

• Beauty techniques

• Nail designs.

Task B

You are required to choose an image from your mood board and develop your ideas to create a plan that can be followed.

You should include:

• An outline of the event (e.g. photo shoot, competition etc).

• The products to be used.

• Any accessories needed to create the image.

• Any practice time needed.

• Any safety considerations.

What is a Mood Board?

Mood boards help you organise your inspiration and clarify your vision for hair, beauty, or nail designs.

A mood board is a collage of images and ideas that captures the style and mood you want to achieve in a makeover.

Purpose

Definition

Why Use a Mood Board?

Mood boards allow you to experiment creatively and communicate your ideas effectively to others before starting the makeover process.

Choosing Your Focus

How to Build a Mood Board

Collect images, magazine cuttings, colour swatches, product photos, and accessory ideas that reflect your chosen style.

Selecting an Image

From your mood board, choose one standout image that inspires you. This will be the basis for your plan.

Planning for an Event

Photo shoots, competitions, or fashion shows need different planning approaches.

What is the goal? Who is involved? What theme or message do you want to communicate?

Choosing Products

List the specific hair, beauty, or nail products you will use to create the chosen image.

Accessory Selection

Safety Considerations

Identify potential risks and follow all health and safety procedures for clients and yourself.
