Uitzonderingen
* some: bij vragen waarop een bevestigend antwoord wordt verwacht 
             Can you pass me some milk? 
* some: in de betekenis van 'een of andere'
             He was talking to some guy. 
* any: in de betekenis van 'elke (wie / welke / wat dan ook) 
             You can give me anything, I don't care. 
* hardly anything / anyone / anywhere: bijna niets / niemand / nergens 
             There was hardly anyone at his party.

* both: allebei - Both men will be present at the meeting
* both ... and: zowel ... als - Both John and James will be present at the meeting. 
* either: een van de twee / de een of de ander - I don't care, either option is okay. 
* either ... or: óf ... óf - We can go either to London or Cambridge. 
* neither: geen van beiden - John and James were invited, but neither wants to attend the meeting. 
* neither ... nor: noch ... noch - Neither John nor James will attend the meeting.

* each: per stuk - They cost fifty dollars each. 
* no (+zelfstandig naamwoord)/ none (+of): geen - There was no use in him acting this way. None of the people present knew how to fix this problem.
