Exploring the Parts of a Monthly Calendar

Text

What do you already know about the calendar of the month?

Lesson Objective

At the end of this lesson you will be able to identify and describe the main parts of a monthly calendar.

What Is a Calendar?

A calendar is a tool used to organise days, weeks, and months. It helps us keep track of important dates and events.

The Month Grid

The main part of a monthly calendar is the grid. It shows the days of the month in rows and columns.

Parts of the Calendar Grid

Dates

At the top, you see the days like Monday, Tuesday, etc. Each column belongs to one day of the week.

Days of the Week

Numbers within the grid represent each date in the month, helping you locate specific days.

Special Days and Holidays

Calendars often highlight special days and holidays. These might be marked with colours, symbols, or pictures.

Notes and Events Section

Some calendars include space for writing notes, reminders, or important events during the month.

Recap: What Have We Learned?
