Nézzük ugyanazt egyre udvariasabb formában:
Do this, now! -ilyet nem mond az angol :P
Will you do this for me?
Can you do this for me?
Can you do this for me, please?
Can I ask you to do this for me, please?
Could you do this for me, please?
Would you be so kind to do this for me, please?
May I ask you, to be so kind to do this for me, please?
I beg your pardon, but may I ask you, to be so kind to do this for me, please?

Udvariasság I.
A britekre jellemző a túlzott, zavarbaejtő udvariaskodás (plusz sok angolul beszélő népre is -pl a kanadaiakra).
Érdekesség, hogy például a személyes névmások a magázó verziók. A tegező formula is létezett korábban, de mára teljesen kihalt, esetleg irodalmi művek olvasása közben találkozhatunk velük:
You - Ön --> Thee - Te
