Text
Back in the 1600’s England was led by the protestants. Guy Fawkes was part of a group that wanted to have a catholic rule over England, just like there had been in the past. Guy Fawkes and his group planned on achieving this by blowing up the whole parliament building, along with the king inside! On the 5th of november they leased a room below the house of the lords and filled it with barrels full of gunpowder. Guy Fawkes was in charge of guarding the explosives and fortunately he was found before all the gunpowder went off. Today the people of Britain celebrate this failed attack on the king on the 5th of november each year. They light fireworks and bonfires. Dolls of Guy Fawkes are burned in the bonfires.
