What are adverbs of frequency?

Always = altijd

Usually = meestal

generally/normally = algemeen/normaal gesproken

Often = vaak

Sometimes = soms

occasionally = zo nu en dan

rarely/seldom = zelden

Hardly ever = bijna nooit

never = nooit

Where to put in sentence

1. Before the main verb (I always go to school)

2. Behind a form of to be  (I am never late)

Exercise 3

Write correct answers to these questions using 

the adverb of frequenty in brackets 

Example

How often do you go out with friends? (rarely)              

I rarely go out with friends.

How often do you surf the internet? (frequently)

How often do you play boardgames? (never)

How often does your best friend call you? (he - often)

How often does your English teacher speak Russian? (she - rarely)

Challenge!

Create 5 sentences and 

have your buddy figure out the correct order. 

Each sentence must:

1. Be at least 6 words long

2. Have at least 1 adverb of frequency

3. Make sentences with 'to be' and with other verbs!
