Cardinal: a number that says how many of something there are

They ordered eighteen sandwiches.

I live in the fourth house on the left.

Ordinal: a number that tells the position of something (in a list)

When do you have to use ordinal numbers ?
  1. dates (the first of April)
  2. sequence/order (I finished fourth.)
  3. floors of a building (He works on the 6th floor.) 
  4. celebrations: birthdays and anniversaries (It's her 17th birthday today.)
  5. centuries (He lived in the 15th century.)
  6. kings and queens: Roman ordinals, but spoken in English (Richard IV = Richard the fourth)

My birthday is February 15th.
The library is on the third floor.
He’s in the sixth grade.
April is the fourth month of the year.
My brother was first in line to buy the new iphone.
First, fold the piece of paper in half. Second, fold the piece of paper again.

How do you write ordinal numbers?
De meeste rangtelwoorden in het Engels maak je door 'th' aan het 'gewone' getal toe te voegen. 

Example
Four -> Fourth
Seven -> Seventh
Ten -> Tenth
