Slide 1 - Slide

Today
  • We will be working on your visual skills: how to look at images, clips and films critically
  • Why: because imagery can be used to trick you. So it is good to develop those skills. Example (thank you Nienke)
  • We are using a film trailer to train with.

Lesson goals; training your 21st century skills...

    Before watching the trailer
    • Have you ever seen a movie or tv series based on this character yourself?
    • What era/time period do his adventures take place?
    • What do you remember about his character?
    • What does he do?  What are his motives?
    • Discuss this with your neighbour and come up with some answers.

We will watch the trailer two times.
First time around: Write down two similarities between the Robin Hood you know and the Robin Hood in this version. Also: write down two differences.

Second time around: who's the bad guy? How does the director make this clear in the scenes?
Think about: clothing, lighting, (background) music, camera angles etc.
