What is the Present Simple?

The present simple tense describes habitual actions, facts, and general truths. It uses the base form of the verb, except for third-person singular subjects which add 's' or 'es'.

Forming the Present Simple

For subjects 'I', 'you', 'we', 'they': use the base verb. For 'he', 'she', 'it': add 's' or 'es'. Example: 'I walk', 'She walks'.

Using Present Simple for Habits

The present simple is used for actions that occur regularly. Example: 'He plays football every Saturday.'

Present Simple for Facts

Use present simple for statements of fact. Example: 'The sun rises in the east.'
