The Security Council makes binding decisions. 15 members, 5 permanent
A member state can block this with the right of veto.

1948: Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
Freedom of speech and religion and protection

War crimes: violation of the rules of warfare.
A war tribunal was established in Nuremberg and Tokyo.

40 Dutch people were sentenced to death. NSB members such as Anton Mussert were sentenced to death by firing squad

All civilians and soldiers who died during WWII and after, war situations and peace operations

On 5 May it is Liberation Day: attention for freedom, democracy and human rights
