Speaking assignment
  • Four groups (made by me).
  • "The science team from your school has recently won a very important international competition. Thanks to this, your school got a large sum of money to invest in remodelling one of the communal areas."
  • Every group gets assigned one area to remodel.
  • Make a short presentation about this (2-3 slides) and present it to the other groups at the end of class. Focus = on speaking and vocabulary!

Slide 2 - Slide

Design your learning area
  • Brainstorm for 5 - 10 minutes together, then start on your presentation. Focus on language, not on the presentation itself.
  • Remember, you only have this hour to do so!
  • Final 15 minutes are to present your ideas: A maximum of 3 minutes per group.
  • Any questions? Let's go!

Interview tips..
  1. Start with a short introduction (both of you).
  2. Ask open questions, no yes/no questions; make it personal!
  3. React naturally to the questions that are being asked.
  4. Speak in full sentences and use a wide range of vocabulary.
  5.  If you don't understand the questions; "Could you repeat that, please?".
  6. Do NOT learn the interview by heart, this will sound unnatural and will cost you points.
  7. You are allowed to have keywords with you during the interview and it has to last for 3 minutes, so make sure you have enough to say!
