Text

What do you already know about body art techniques and safety?

Learning Objective

At the end of the lesson you will be able to identify key factors influencing body art, understand essential products, practice professional techniques, develop mood boards, and recognise contraindications.

Factors Influencing Technique

Main Considerations

Why Important?

These factors ensure long-lasting, safe, and attractive body art for every client and style.

Design objective, skin type, live/still work, longevity, sweat levels, and lighting all matter when choosing methods and tools.

Essential Body Art Products

Aqua paints: water-based, contain talc, glycol, pigment. Grease paints: made with mineral oil, paraffin, pigment. Right product = best result.

Professional Practice

Maintain comfortable, correct positioning for both artist and client. Only uncover areas being painted. Always deliver the client’s vision.

Creating a Mood Board

Use magazines, film, theatre, and fashion inspirations. Gather images, accessories, and take practice photos. Mood boards shape the final design.

Client Contraindications

Ringworm, conjunctivitis, impetigo, styes, boils, cold sores, warts, shingles, severe eczema, open sores, cracked skin, severe bruising.

Do Not Treat

Restrict or Take Care

Severe bruising, watery eyes, psoriasis/eczema, skin sensitivity, cuts and abrasions may require restrictions.
