§6.4 Dividing in a given ratio
What does this mean?!
Let's look at a simple example.

Slide 3 - Slide

Dividing 400 euros between 2 friends in the given ratio of  3 to 1, or  3 : 1, as we say. As follows:
1.      3 : 1  means that there are 4 parts in total, of which one get 3 parts and               the other only 1 part.
2.    one part is  400 : 4 = 100 euros.
3.    one friend gets 3 x 100 = 300 euros, the other 1 x 100 = 100 euros.
4.  check:     300 + 100 = 400 euros.  It checks out!

About making §6.4 :
You now learnt an easy way to solve the tasks.
 Make sure that you
WRITE DOWN a GOOD CALCULATION!! Use the steps we
just practised.
Now a little 'language' too, so that you understand the exercises better.

(In exercises 33 and 36 it is said ...)
+ that 'Patricia has babysat' for 52 hours.
Sounds a bit funny (to me anyway), but it should be clear that she earned         some money by watching over a very young child.
+ that an 'inheritance' is divided. When somebody dies, his or her
money goes to the family. That money is called the inheritance.
