Present Simple
When something happens regularly in the present. Also used for facts. 

I write in my diary every night. 
My dad runs the fastest in my family. 
Past Simple
When something happened (and finished) in the past.


We slept at a farm with my family last week.
Jackie called James to break up with him.
Present Continuous
When something is happening right now. 

Alice is walking the dog.
Listen! Those men are singing very loudly.
Past Continuous
When something happened in the past and lasted a longer period. Usually combined with the past simple. 

My mother was fixing my phone when it started ringing. 
We were driving in our car when we saw a strange light. 


Present Perfect
Started in the past, result is still visible. 

I have walked all the way home, I'm tired now. 
I have lived in this city for three years. 
Future Tenses
will, going to, present simple, present continuous. 

I will pick you up from work later today. 
She is going to study all weekend.
