The role of women: 19th century
  • Even though there has been political changes in the 19th century, nothing really happened for the rol of women
  • Higher class women weren't made for (factory)work and focussed on their families
  • Some middle class women did work, but only until their marriage

The role of women
In 1840 people started to get dissatisfied about this situation and started to speak up. This is feminism. 
These women strived to:
- get access to education
- get political rights

Suffragettes
= women who also protested for their rights.
This lead to first wave feminism, which is focused on suffrage for all.

  • How old do you need to be to vote?

In groups of 3-4, create a poster to gain recognition for one of the following topics:
- suffrage
- education rights
- the right to own money and property
- allowed to go outside without a man
- allowed to work when married

- a slogan for your cause
- three arguments why you fight for this cause
