5 Crazy Ways Social Media Is Chaning Your Brain Right Now
1. People develop a psychological addiction to the internet, and this physically changes the brain.
2. Multi-tasking online makes it harder for your brain to filter out information and memorise things.
3. People think they feel or hear their phone buzz, while this is not actually happening. This is due to changes in our nervous system.
4. Because social media allows people to spend a lot of time talking about themselves, it triggers dopamine release in our brains. This makes us feel good.
5. People who have met online tend to like one another better and have more successful relationships.

G - In depth - open questions
1. We are connected to more people; we can be in contact with hundreds of people nowadays.
We are more connected to each of those people. We connect with them more frequently and with less effort.
2. Lines 3-14 give more information about the statement presented in lines 1-3. They explain the statement, partly through the use of examples and partly by giving new information.
3. Lines 24-30 look at the information from another (negative) viewpoint. Lines 15-23 are very positive about social media, but lines 24-30 focus on its negative aspects. The linking word ‘But’ (line 24) shows that the second paragraph contradicts the first.
4. She is a woman who felt she was ‘sacrificing real relationships for virtual ones’ (lines 29-30).
5. - She was always spending time on her phone instead of living in the moment.
 - It was tough seeing everybody showcase their great lives. This constantly reminded her that she wasn’t really in the best place in her life.
6. - Her life is calmer. / There is much less drama.
 - Her relationship with her partner has improved.
