Be careful (1)!
1. Some words will end with -s, but they are not plural.
For example: athletics, maths, news, gymnastics, politics
Maths is a difficult subject

2. Some singular words will refer to [=verwijzen naar] a group and will have a plural verb.
For example: police, Italy (in a match!), audience
The police are searching for the criminal
