What should you be able to do at the end of this year in terms of reading comprehension?
  • Understand the structure (verbanden) and central idea (hoofdgedachte) of a text.
  • Know the meaning and function of linking words.
  • Recognise arguments for and against, positive and negative.
  • Recognise and understand the opinions of experts.
  • Recognise examples and their function in the text.

  • Showing you how to learn from your (English) mistakes and how do deal with disappointment or  'failure'.

  • I would like to improve my use of the reading strategies so it is easier to find the information I need.

  • I would like to enjoy reading more than I do now.

Why start with reading practice when the (reading) exam is in May?
  • You get a good idea of what level you are at and what needs to happen to achieve your personal goal. 
  • You learn how to recognize and use reliable sources.
  • Improving your reading skill will be useful for when we read a 3rd novel in P2. 
  • You expand your vocab (which you can use in speaking/listening/writing.
  • You learn about new topical issues and are able to form opinions and ideas.
