In the 80s the people at Nasa wanted to get more missions going . Nasa wanted these to start on time. Things and checks were rushed. The O-ring seal on a rocket booster failed. Gas managed to escape. It damaged the external fuel tank. The Challenger exploded  73 seconds after lift-off.
