Past simple 
When an action is completed (als het klaar is) in the past you use the past simple. 
Rule: you add -ed to the verb. If the verb already ends in -e you only add -d. 
Examples: 
visit - We visited the castle yesterday. 
like - My sister liked the painting (NOT likeed)

If the verb (werkwoord) ends in a vowel (klinker) + consonant (medeklinker) you double the consonant.
