New modals
Ought to: 
- is used to talk about things that are ideal or desired.
- similar to 'should', because both are about giving advice
- should is more subjective. Ought to is more formal. 

'You should listen to her new album.'
'She ought to pay her parking tickets.'

New Modals
May / Might:
- are used when you are unsure about something
   'We may take the train to Berlin.'
- are used to ask for and give permission
- may is more formal than can and could and might is even
   more formal
   'May I leave the classroom?'

Negatives
To make a negative you can place not or n't after the modal. 

can't / couldn't / shouldn't / mustn't
may not / might not / ought not

But: "have to" -> don't have to / doesn't have to 
          "be able to" -> isn't / aren't / wasn't / weren't able to
