Jonathan Harker, a lawyer, travels to Eastern Europe to Dracula's Castle. The locals warn him against going, but he has to go for his job as a lawyer. Dracula seems nice at first, but it's not long before Jonathan realises that he's a prisoner in Dracula's Castle.

Mina, Jonathan's fiancee, writes letters to Lucy, who invites her on a holiday in a small seaside town. Recently, a ship has been wrecked at the harbour of this town, and Lucy starts sleep walking. Lucy falls ill, and her doctor, Dr. Seward, asks his old friend Professor Van Helsing for help.

Van Helsing recognises that Lucy has been bitten by a vampire, and tries to help her, but they fail. Mina travels to Budapest, where Jonathan has managed to escape to. They get married. When they get back to London, Mina collects all the relevant letters and together they figure out how to kill Dracula.
