             Isn't he your cousin?
- om ergernis uit te drukken
             Don't you ever listen to what I say?
- om ongeloof uit te drukken
             Didn't the alarm go off when he stole the car?

Ontkennende vraag met to be:
Als er een vorm van 'to be'  (am-are-is-was-were) in de zin staat, zet je die vooraan de ontkennende vraag, gevolgd door not (n't).

Aren't you happy to see me?
Isn't she your aunt?

Ontkennende vraag met have got / has got / can
Als er een have got / has got of can in de zin staat, 
zet je have/has/can vooraan de ontkennende vraag,
gevolgd door not (n't).

Hasn't he got a daughter?
Can't he come tonight?
