If I had three wishes I would wish for a lot of money.

If I didn't have to go to school, I would sleep until ten.

First conditional

Second conditional

First conditional

For things that might happen in the future.

(probable situation)

Second conditional

For things that are unlikely to happen in the future.

(improbable situation)

First conditional

If + Present Simple, will + infinitive 

If I study harder, I will pass my exam.

Second conditional

If + Past Simple, would + infinitive

If I studied harder, I would pass my exam.

Second conditional

Notice that 'was' in the if-clause can change to 'were' for I and he/she/it.

If she were rich, she would travel the world.

If I did my homework, my grades would be better.
