Linking words (voegwoord)
Een compound sentence is een zin die bestaat uit twee simpele sentences die aan elkaar gekoppeld zijn door een linking word:
and, but, or, so
Dit zijn dus zinnen die ook alleen kunnen staan.

Complex Sentences
Wanneer je een afhankelijke bijzin toevoegt aan een enkelvoudige zin met verbindingswoorden zoals because, although, after, when, before, dan krijg je een complexe zin.
