• Changing technology, or machines, and making technology more modern, helps media to reach more people.

• It also improves the quality of sound and the images that you see. But technology does more than this.

• It also changes the ways in which we think about our lives. For example, today it is quite difficult for us to think of our lives without television. Television has enabled us to think of ourselves as members of a larger global world.

ROLE OF BUSINESS HOUSES

• the role of big business in the media coverage of events — the way ‘news’ is selected for coverage, and the explicit/ implicit dimensions of that coverage. We use two fictitious news reports to demonstrate that there is seldom just one version of a story or an event.

• For balanced reporting , it is important that the media should not be controlled or influenced by anyone in any way.

• Governmental control: constitution does not specifically guarantee freedom of the press, but article 19(a)ensure that media has the right to express views, but government can impose restrictions on press if it feels a particular report may disrupt peace , pose the threat to national security or influence court cases.

• Censorship- the government can prevent some news items, songs, books, magazines, or movies from being broadcast or published.

• Control of business houses: to run channels , buy equipments like-cameras or satellites needs lot of money. Which is provided by big business houses , so they also control the stories to be published of covered.
