What are phrasal verbs

  

Phrasal verbs  consist of a verb and a preposition.

What do I need to know about phrasal verbs?

Phrasal verbs can have literal meanings, but their meanings are often not obvious.  idiomatic.

I'll look you up next time I'm in London. (= to visit someone you have not seen for a long time)

Things are looking up. ( = improve)

She looks up to her big sisters as she is very bright.(= to have high regard of)

I'm going to look it up in the dictionary.(=look for information from a source)

Sometimes phrasal verbs are followed by a particular preposition to make three-part verbs. 

Learn these prepositions with the phrasal verbs. 

Examples: 

I'm looking forward to the weekend.

She's been going out with him for six months now.

How to approach the Reading exam

Read around the gap.

The answer could be lexical or lexico-grammatical
