Turnitin & Doctopus:
  • Both are assessment tools for essays and projects.
  • Both can be used with rubrics and giving feedback.

  • Major Difference: Turnitin also does plagiarism check.

Turnitin Step 1:
  • Choose your assignment and create / choose the rubric.
  • For help with the rubric go to rubistar4teachers.org

Find an assignment you would use and find or create a rubric.

Turnitin Step 2:
  • Go to Turnitin and sign in.
  • If you have never signed in, check your mailbox for a welcome mail.
  • Add a class to Turnitin that you can add your assignment and rubric to later on.

Turnitin Step 3:
  • Create your rubric in Turnitin.
  • Go to your class, then choose the tab Libraries.
  • Under Libraries choose Rubric/Form manager.
  • Choose the top left Icon the create a new rubric.
  • Create your rubric for your assignment of choice.

Turnitin Step 4:
  • Create your Assignment in Turnitin.
  • Add your newly created Rubric to this.
  • Share the enrolement key and class name of the class.
  • Help them join in class.

Doctopus Step 1:
  • Choose your assignment and create / choose the rubric.

  • Convert your Rubric to a google sheets file and save it in your drive.

  • Put the assignment on Classroom and collect the assignments from students.

Doctopus Step 4:
  • Create a spreadsheet for the grading of the assignment.
  • Activate the Add-on Doctopus for Google Sheets
  • Follow the instructions Doctopus gives you in the spreadsheet & import the rubric to the file and an assignment.
  • Start giving feedback.
