Things I need to remember when making my map:

1. How large is the location I am making? 
2. How big will the symbols be? (the bigger, the larger it is)
3. How far do I have to travel from West to East in total? 
4. Think of a scale. How far is 1 cm on my map? 
5. Write down the scale on your map.
