At the end of today's class, students...

• can fill in a gap in a written text, using song lyrics
• know what the steps for applying reading strategies are
• know what the different ways of reading are

Wat waren de 3 leesstrategien die in de vorige les besproken zijn?

Skimmen, scannen, intensief lezen

Leesstrategiën:

* skimmen: Lezen om ongeveer te weten waar de tekst over gaat. Lees de 1e en laatste zin van de alinea's.

* scannen: Je bent op zoek naar specifieke informatie. Lees niet de volledige tekst. 

* intensief lezen: Lees de gehele tekst zorgvuldig door. 

2 Soorten vragen:

• Open vragen
• Meerkeuze vragen

• Maar hoe kan je deze beantwoorden?

Open vraag

Lees de vraag goed door -> Wat word er van mij gevraagd?

Zorg dat je volledig antwoord geeft

Wees kort en bondig

Voorbeeld:

According to the text how many legos have been made so far?

Meerkeuze vraag

• Lees de vraag goed door.
• Het antwoord staat meestal in de volgorde van de tekst
• Scan in de tekst naar de specifieke informatie wat in de vraag staat

Voorbeeld:

How many colours of lego pieces are there?

a. 4

b. 8

Get to work

• Lees de tekst 'Robot teachers'.
• Bedenk in duo's: twee open vragen en twee meerkeuze vragen (nav de tekst)

Dit deel je zo met de klas, iedereen kan de beurt krijgen.

Moeilijke woorden

• Lijkt het woord op een ander woord dat je al kent? Denk ook aan andere talen: Nederlands, Engels, Frans, Spaans, etc.
• Raad de betekenis door de hele zin te lezen. Context is heel erg belangrijk!
• Zoek het woord op in het woordenboek. Houd er rekening mee dat dit meer tijd kost.

Moet je van letterlijk elk woord een vertaling hebben om de tekst te begrijpen?

Kijk naar de context!

Laat studenten de betekenis raden van de dikgedrukte woorden aan de hand van de context

Text: Whatever it takes - imagine dragons

Je hoort het lied 'Whatever it takes' van de imagine dragons op de radio. Je leest de songtekst om beter te begrijpen waar het lied over gaat. Bij deze tekst horen 4 vragen.  

Question 1:
What is the main idea in the first paragraph?

1. Everybody looks down on someone
2. There is a risk to being unprepared in a fast-paced environment
3. The consequences of negative behaviour

Answer 

Falling too fast to prepare for this

Tripping in the world could be dangerous

Everybody circling is vulturous

Question 2:
What three words accurately describe the feeling of the writer?

Answer 

Always had a fear of being typical
