Present simple vs present continuous

SIMPLE!

Hoe? Verb

He, she, it? Verb + S

Use: gewoonte, routine,

vaak of juist nooit

In combinatie met always,

often, never, every day/week

CONTINUOUS

Hoe? To be + verb+ ING

Use: als iets NU bezig is en nog even duurt

In combinatie met: now, right now, at this moment

SIMPLE!

I work every day.

She never eats pizza.

Do you read every day?
They don't play tennis ever!

CONTINUOUS

I am working today

She is eating spaghetti right now

Are you reading any book at this moment?

They are not playing tennis now.

English tenses - Present simple

Wanneer: De present simple wordt gebruikt op het moment dat iets altijd, nooit, of regelmatig gebeurt. Dit geldt ook voor feiten en gewoonten. 

Hoe: Hele werkwoord/ hele werkwoord + -s (bij he, she, it). 

Signaalwoorden: Bij de present simple horen signaalwoorden die aangeven hoe vaak iets gebeurt: always, never, usually, sometimes, often, etc. 

Bev. zin	Ontk. zin	Vraagzin
Hele werkwoord / hele werkwoord + -s (bij he, she, it).	Dont/doesn't + hele werkwoord.	Do/does + persoon + hele werkwoord.
I love to read books.	I don't love to read books.	Do I love to read books.

English tenses - Present continuous

Wanneer: De present continuous wordt gebruikt om te zeggen dat iets nu aan de gang is. 

Hoe: Vorm van to be (am,are,is) + ww -ing

Signaalwoorden: Bij de present simple horen signaalwoorden die aangeven dat nu iets gebeurt: now, right now, at the moment, currently. 

Bev. zin	Ontk. zin	Vraagzin
Vorm van to be (am,are,is) + ww -ing	Ontkennende vorm van to be (am,are,is) + ww -ing	Vorm van to be + persoon + ww-ing
I am explaining the present continuous right now.	I am not explaining the personal pronouns.	Am I explaining the present continuous?
