- describe what a phrasal verb is (recognise)
- understand how/when phrasal verbs are used
- form correct English sentences using a selection of phrasal verbs (apply & create).

Phrasal Verbs
  • two or more parts
  • one is a verb,  and at least one particle, a preposition/adverb like up, along, around, on 
  • the combination has a meaning of its own  (could be more than one)
  • cf. to turn up, to put up with
  • Mostly informal use (spoken English)
