How do you look at the inside of your body?

Radiology = department in the hospital where images of your organs are being made (doctors are called radiologists)

Radiology assistants = make the images or assist the radiologist in making them.

X-rays
X-ray = photograph of the inner part of your body, made with the use of X-radiation
X-radiation = rays that pass the soft tissue of your body, but are obstructed by blood and bones

Bones - white
Lung tissue- dark
Blood, muscles and organs - different shades between dark and light.

X-ray radiation is harmful when you are exposed to it for too long. Radiologists stand behind a lead screen to block the radiation.

CAT-scan
Sometimes a doctor wants to look inside an organ.

Tunnel that contains a ring that rotates around the body.
X-rays come from this ring. The machine scans thin slices of the body. Every slice is turned into a 3D image on the computer.
