4.5. The Future
Tell me: What are you going to do next weekend?

  • Now, practice - pick and choose:

  • Finished? Read your book
Let's watch a video together.
Take notes:
1. What are the ways you can talk about the future? (= the tenses)
2. Write 1 example sentence from the video for each.
do at least 4 exercises
will: ex 1, ex 2, ex 3
going to: ex 1, ex 2, ex 3
present continuous: ex 1, ex 2, ex 3
Mixed future practice: ex 1, ex 2, ex 3, ex 4, ex 5 (extra challenge)
note taking tips:
if using a word doc for notes & watching the video by yourself -> minimize the youtube window onto half of your screen and put the word doc onto the other half = you can see both and work in both
-> write down the bulletpoint of what you need to answer first
-> listen/watch for those answers
-> pause the video while taking notes (if you can)
-> only watch the video 2 times max. Then, look into your SB for missing answers

Future forms
Present continuous - future arrangements; often with time, date, or place --> I am having a birthday party on the 6th.

Be going to + infinitive - future intentions, plans = already decided to do smth & you tell people about it (think - NY's resolutions)
--> I am going to do Meatless Mondays.

WILL - spontaneous decisions
--> I think I'll have a coffee. Don't worry, I'll pay. Tom will help you.
