4.2: Future tenses

There are 6 tenses we can use + reasons why we use them:

1. Present Simple - future schedules/timetables 

2. Present Continuous - Future arrangement 

3. Going to - 'pencil' plans/intentions in the future

4. Future Simple (will + verb) - offers, promises, instant decisions

5. Future Perfect = will + have + verb-ed/3rd form verb

6. Future Continuous = will + be + verb-ing

Future Continuous

= future actions in progress at a specific time in the future

will  +  be  +  -ing

You'll be studying at uni.

I will be getting married.

Future Perfect

= an action that will be completed before a specific time in the future

will  +  have  +  past participle

You'll have finished uni in...

We'll have planned...

I'll  have gone to bed by then.

often with the time expression of 'by'

'by then', 'by next week', 'by the end of...' = no later than that time
