Opening
What do you see?
Where does this occur?
Why does this occur here?
Is this desired?
Is this the case everywhere?

Slide 4 - Slide

Goals
At the end of the lesson, you can:
  • Explain how the enhanced greenhouse effect works
  • What fossil fuels are
  • What renewable energy is

Slide 5 - Slide

Opening video
Write this questions in your notebook

1. What is the greenhouse effect?

2. What is the enhanced greenhouse effect?

Slide 6 - Slide

Slide 7 - Video

Koolstofkringloop

Slide 8 - Slide

Greenhouse gases
Consists of greenhouse gases (hydrogen, nitrogen, carbondioxide etc)
Fossil fuel
Fuel (natural gas, oil and coal) formed over millions of years from plant or animal remains.
Atmosphere
The air around us.

Consequence: sea level rise

Slide 14 - Slide

The small picture

Slide 15 - Slide

Impact of climate change in the Netherlands
  • Sea level rise
  • More extreme weather (extreme rainfall, long period of drought)
  • Warmer average annual temperature

More in paragraph 2

Slide 16 - Slide

Energy transition
In order to emit less CO2, energy saving and renewable energy sources instead of fossil fuels can be used.

Slide 17 - Slide

Fossil fuels

  • Fuel formed over millions of years from the remains of dead plants, trees and animals (natural gas, petroleum and coal)
Renewable energy sources

  • Resources that, when used, never run out.
  • They also do not contribute to the enhanced greenhouse effect, as they release (virtually) no CO2.

Slide 18 - Slide

Getting started!
First, read §6.1

and make assignments 1, 2 and 3

This is homework for next lesson!
