Learning objectives

• After this lesson you can identify and explain at least three causes of the witch stereotype.
• After this lesson, I can work with my group to choose and explain the three most important causes of the witch stereotype.

Reading the text

The teacher will read the first paragraph of the text out loud. After that the teacher chooses 6 other students to continue reading it out loud.

Placemat

There will be 5 groups of 4 and a duo. The teacher makes the groups. Every group will receive an A3 paper with 5 boxes. Leave the middle one empty!!!

Every person will write down the answer to the question in their own box. 

The question is: 

Why did people start to believe in the stereotype of the witch?

Write down a minimum of 3 reasons.

Now discuss your answers with your teammates. You have to agree on the same 3 reasons in the same order. 

Now you will fill in the middle box. You will write it like this: 

The three most important causes of the witch stereotype are...

Write down some keywords for every reason. Think about why you choose your number one to be the most important

and not number three. 

One member of your group will present your findings. This includes the order and why you chose this order. 

Around one minute per group. 

Imagine if.......

Imagine if there were no problems regarding witchcraft, and female witches were portrayed as true healers, what would they look like. 

Make a collage with your vision. You can draw, use pictures or if you don't know how to put your thoughts into a picture you can write a letter describing your vision. The letter has to be 250 words.
