Sometimes people become a hero when something unexpected happens.

They step up and react bravely.

Who is this?

It is President Volodymyr Zelensky.

He is the president of Ukraine.

There are 7 continents in the world.

Ukraine is in Europe.

We live in the United Kingdom (UK).

This is the flag of Ukraine.

In 2022 Russia invaded Ukraine and since then President Zelensky has led a country at war.  

He has travelled around the world trying to get support for Ukraine to fight back against Russia.

We see him now as a leader fighting off a Russian invasion but his life began very differently.

Zelensky was an actor and comedian who even appeared on Ukraine's version of Dancing With The Stars - he won it!

When Zelensky became the president of Ukraine, he did not know that he would become the leader of a country at war.

He had to step up and learn what to do to inspire his people and to get support for them against their big, powerful invader.
