Set a goal for the upcoming listening exam. What grade are you going to aim for? 

Think about why you want that grade, and what you need to do to obtain it. Write this down (5 min). Keep this with you!

In Short
  • There are three different levels  of questions;
  1. Gathering: The ground level, the basic information. Usually true/false, no interpretation.
  2. Processing: The first floor, the next step in using the basic information. Comparing & contrasting, analysing.
  3. Applying: The penthouse, here we take the previous two steps and create. Hypothesizing & evaluating.

With your neighbour, have a look at the house. Think of 2 or 3 questions per level (5 min).

From Watson to Sherlock
We're going to make listening tests! In groups of 5, you will:
  • Choose a topic & video or audio fragment
  • Design questions with the various levels in mind

Goals for Today:
  • Form your group. You'll need to assign the following roles:
  1. Spokesperson: Represents the team & their ideas
  2. Reporter: Takes notes & keeps record of what's been done
  3. Keeper: Stays aware of time constraints & keeps the booklet
  4. Judge: Makes sure focus stays on the important topics
  5. Explorer: Seeks to uncover new potential ideas 
  • Decide on a topic.
