How could you use these active listening skills in an interview?

How would you recognize that someone is not listening?

You can tell that someone is not listening to the speaker if he or she:

1. asks a follow up question.
2. makes eye contact with the speaker.
3. slouches down in a chair.
4. Paraphrases what was said.

All of the following are features of active listening, except

1. sitting up straight.
2. listening to the speaker.
3. having an interested facial expression.
4. raising your hand to raise a comment during the presentation.

One reason to be an active listener is to:

1. speak more in class.
2. learn something new.
3. give a report.
4. share your own experiences.

Make eye contact with the speaker. This lets the speaker know that you are engaged in the conversation.

Participants in a conversation can ask follow up questions, when the speaker allows, to ask questions to clarify information.

When actively listening, your posture plays an important role. Sitting up straight and leaning in to the speaker will help you to listen better.
