Grammar: conditionals

🌧 Wat zijn "conditionals"?

Een conditional is een "als... dan..." zin. Je zegt wat er kan gebeuren als iets anders gebeurt.

Bijvoorbeeld:

If you mix red and blue, you get purple.

(Als je rood en blauw mengt, dan krijg je paars.)

🟩 Zero conditional – altijd waar

Gebruik je voor feiten of gewoontes.

🔹 Vorm:

If + present simple, present simple

🔹 Voorbeeld:

If you heat water, it boils.

(Als je water verhit, kookt het.)

🟨 First conditional – mogelijk in de toekomst

Gebruik je voor dingen die misschien gebeuren.

🔹 Vorm:

If + present simple, will + hele werkwoord

🔹 Voorbeeld:

If it rains, I will stay inside.

(Als het regent, blijf ik binnen.)

🟥 Second conditional – niet echt of onwaarschijnlijk

Gebruik je voor fantasie of dingen die niet snel zullen gebeuren.

🔹 Vorm:

If + past simple, would + hele werkwoord

🔹 Voorbeeld:

If I had a million euros, I would buy a big house.

(Als ik een miljoen euro had, zou ik een groot huis kopen.)

Zero = altijd (feiten)

First = misschien (toekomst)

Second = fantasie (niet echt)
