• define your topic and provide an appropriate context for reviewing the literature;
  
• establish your reasons – i.e. point of view
• reviewing the literature;
  
• explain the organisation – i.e. sequence – of the review;
  
• state the scope of the review – i.e. what is included and what isn’t included. 

Main body

• organise the literature according to common themes;
  
• provide insight into the relation between your chosen topic and the wider subject area e.g. between obesity in children and obesity in general;
  
• move from a general, wider view of the literature being reviewed to the specific focus of your research.

• summarise the important aspects of the existing body of literature;
• evaluate the current state of the literature reviewed;

Je kunt van alles ‘reviewen’ en in de meeste gevallen zul je voordat jij een product koopt ook een review van iemand anders lezen voordat je overgaat tot aankoop van een product of het kijken van een serie. Ook op Instagram en Facebook en natuurlijk TikTok worden allerlei zaken beoordeeld waar anderen gebruik van maken.

Stap 2 - TOEPASSEN

Beantwoord de volgende vragen over de reviews. Geef bij elke vraag uitgebreid antwoord (50 tot 100 woorden). Geef dus niet alleen je antwoord, maar vertel ook waarom dat je antwoord is. 

Beantwoord de vragen in het Engels.

QUESTIONS ABOUT REVIEWS: 

1. What review did you pick and why?

2. Do you often read reviews and if so, for what purpose and what kind of reviews?

3. What do you consider important elements of reviews? When are you convinced enough to buy or watch or read something?

4. What did you learn from looking up reviews and what was the most surprising thing about them?

Stap 3 - CREËREN

Schrijf met de kennis die je hebt over het schrijven van een review nu zelf een review over een product. Dat kan iets zijn waar jijzelf ook onderzoek naar hebt gedaan voor je het ging kijken/ lezen of aankopen. Denk aan aantrekkelijk taalgebruik en kijk ook naar het document met de adjectives en adverbs die je kunnen helpen bij het schrijven. 

Je gaat 2 verschillende reviews schrijven over 2 soorten producten/ series/ boeken/ vakantielanden of wat dan ook. Per stuk ongeveer 200 woorden en uiteraard in het Engels.

Product Review

So, what should you begin your review with? People want to get to know some practical facts, so:

• Talk about how the product grew on you and share first impressions (and all the consecutive ones!).
  
• Share your experiences with the product.
  
• List real pros and cons of the product.
  
• Tell the readers if a product is aimed at them [who the target users/buyers are].
  
• Rule if the product is of the highest quality and whether it’s simply worth buying.
  
• Is it user-friendly?
  
• Discuss some potential pain points.
  
• Provide alternatives.

Book / Film Review

Introduction: give the title and author of the book. If you're reviewing a film mention the director or actors.

Body:

1. Summarize the plot in a few sentences.

2. Mention the setting: the place and time of the plot.

3. Say something about the main characters.

4. Say something about the content.

Conclusion:

1. Comment on the book or film.

2. Let others know whether or not you liked the book/film.

3. Why do you like it? Why don't you like it?

4. Is the author's style good or bad, is the book/film interesting or boring, etc?

5. Do you want to recommend the book/film?

Assignment

Jullie worden in groepen uiteen gezet. Je mag best praten met elkaar. Zorg ervoor dat je je tijd nuttig besteed.
